Beware of Scam Callers
We’ve been getting a lot of scammers and robocallers lately.
My wife just alerted me to a scammer pretending to be from the Fraternal Order of Police. Red flags: 1) He refused to give a mailing address. 2) He claimed they can’t take checks. 3) He pressured her to donate now rather than waiting to talk to her husband. She knew immediately that it was a scam & tried to draw him out a little.
If someone calls you asking for money for any reason, never give them a credit card number or any banking information. Ask them to mail you more information or tell them that you will contact the organization they claim to represent so that you can verify they are who they say they are. And don’t call any phone numbers they give you! Look up the correct phone number on the organization’s website or a legitimate business directory.
Treat phone calls just like email. Don’t give information to people or websites that you can’t verify.
