“Header file length is zero” when exporting a mailbox

For years, I’ve been importing and exporting mailboxes with relatively no problems, when I started getting this error when exporting a number of mailboxes: [PS] C:\Windows\system32>New-MailboxExportReqeust john.doe -FilePath \\server\share\john.doe.pst Unable to open PST file ‘\\server\share\john.doe.pst’. Error details: Header file length is zero. If this file is from a previously failed pst export, please delete the file and resume the export. + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (0:Int32) […]

Outlook OST file is in use and cannot be accessed

If Outlook doesn’t shut down properly for whatever reason–and those reasons could be legion–you might see this error the next time you try to start it: A restart of your computer will fix this problem 95% of the time. However, that’s not always immediately practical and what do you do if it doesn’t? First, if you can’t reboot right now, open the Task Manager and […]

Exchange Users Unable to Connect with Outlook 2010

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a rash of Exchange users who are unable to connect using Outlook. They don’t get an error message; Outlook just spins its wheels forever. This fixed it: Deleted these two folders: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Communicator %appdata%\Microsoft\Communicator Open Credential Manager and deleted any credentials that referred to OC or SIP in connection with the Lync domain name. I could have […]

Lync error: Some sharing features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues

I had a number of customers tell me they were receiving errors when attempting to view or share a PowerPoint presentation via Lync 2010. They would see this error on the Lync Stage: Some sharing features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues. In the main Lync Conversation window, they would see these two errors together in yellow bars between toolbar and the call controls: […]

Error when attempting to share a Powerpoint presentation in Lync 2010

I recently a problem with a Lync user who was trying to share a Powerpoint presentation in an online meeting. When she tried to share the presentation, she received this error: Some sharing features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues. The immediate workaround was to share her desktop instead of the pptx file while I tried to figure out what was wrong. Every other […]
